A dark timber ribbon follows the stair through a pale interior. The curve gathers movement around an open centre, giving a practical route through the building a distinct spatial presence.

Movement

A centre to move around.

The stair stands apart from the surrounding walls. Its balustrade follows the treads in a continuous line, while the white outer surface gives the curve a clear edge.

Detail

The hand and the step.

The timber surface is closest to the hand; light sits close to the tread. These small relationships make the stair legible at the scale of the body, as well as within the larger room.
